Coach, Athlete, Mum: Meet Nina Doucette

CrossFit wasn’t just Nina’s route into fitness. It was the moment everything clicked. The intensity, the community, the mental challenge, the constant pursuit of better. What began as a personal passion quickly became a profession. Today Nina is a CrossFit coach at GFP Suffolk , competitor, solo mum to two little ones, and someone who shows up with purpose no matter how full life gets.

Her story is all about capability. The kind you build rep by rep, choice by choice. Here is how she balances coaching, performance goals, motherhood and her own training, and how SYFA fits into the moments where focus matters most.

What got you into what you do?

"CrossFit is what pulled me into fitness properly. I never felt satisfied after going to Bootcamps and other gyms and I fell in love with the intensity, the community and the way it challenges you mentally as much as physically. My passion for CrossFit is what lead me into coaching it. I love helping people move better, get stronger, and realise they are capable of way more than they think. There is nothing better than seeing someone hit a lift, master a skill, or grow in confidence because of the work they have put in."

What are you aiming for over the next 12 months?

"Over the next year I am pushing even harder with my own CrossFit performance in competitions as well as focusing on skill, strength, gymnastics and engine. I am also growing my coaching business and taking on more athletes."

What gets in the way?

"Life. Coaching, training, clients, business and trying to have some sort of personal life is like juggling kettlebells. Some days I am exhausted. Some days there is not enough time, especially when I want quality time with my kids which are always number one."

And how do you deal with it?

"I reset by setting small goals, going out with my kids, meditation and training. Getting outside helps too, or just slowing down and taking a minute to breathe. I love going for long walks, especially by water, clearing my head and resetting before coaching or training. It is where I refocus and get perspective. I also find SYFA Shift helps me focus when I need it. It helps me stay switched on, hydrated and ready to perform without the crash which is fantastic."

How did you first discover SYFA?

"I came across SYFA at a fitness competition where they were handing out free shots to try. I tried a couple and instantly loved the flavours and I did get 1st place at that event!"

Which SYFA product do you reach for most and why?

"Shift Berry Blast gets me through long coaching days. It keeps my energy steady and helps me stay alert. I also quite enjoy Shift during my gymnastics and strength sessions as I am often training alone and find it hard to get motivated sometimes."

What has changed since you started using SYFA?

"My energy seems to be more stable throughout the day. My focus is sharper and I recover better between sessions. I do not get that heavy crash mid day anymore which I had from a lot of energy drinks."

Why did you want to become a SYFA affiliate?

"I said yes because I actually use the products and feel the difference. I only promote what I believe in and SYFA fits perfectly with my lifestyle as a coach and athlete. Clean, effective and genuinely useful for performance. It works well with a balanced diet."

What does a good day look like for you?

"A good day is laughing with my kids, coaching CrossFit and clients successfully and getting my own training done. The sense of achievement is so rewarding. If I can finish the day proud of my effort, that is a good day."

Tell us something surprising about you.

"I love bouldering. Nothing like hanging off a wall to remind me gravity is real and that I probably should have stretched more! It is also as satisfying as meditation where your mind is so focused you forget everything else around you."
